A sucker for love
Yesterday, I was at my favorite salon sitting in the chair of Julie, the only cosmetologist who has ever cut my hair exactly the way I ask. I will follow her to the ends of the Earth, just saying. The music piped through the shop is always from my favorite satellite radio station. A song I played all day at work came on.
"I love this song."
Julie listened for a few seconds. "That's really pretty."
"I'm a sucker for a love song. Probably explains why I write romance, huh?"
She smiled and nodded. "Yeah, probably."
I'm a sucker for a love song, a love story, just love in general. If you read my books, know that I'm probably never going to write anything less than a HEA. My characters are going to be good guys, even if they go through rough patches, and most of the time are going to be goofy and in love.
My wonderful fellow Book Bunnies and I recently had a conversation about what kind of books we want to write. This is what I said:
I want to write books that offer a happy escape with a message of that, despite the crap that the world throws you, you can build a life that makes you happy. It may not be perfect, and you may have to go through a gauntlet of shit to get there. But, in the end, if you can find one other person to run that gauntlet with you, the rest ain't so bad.
Like I said, sappy ;)
