Wordy Wednesday: A excerpt from Realize
So, it's Wednesday, and I'm debuting my new weekly feature, Wordy Wednesday. Each Wednesday, I'll post a quote or excerpt from something I've read or written...or I might just gush over a book I've read recently.
This week, I'm sharing another excerpt from "Realize," my short story published last month by Torquere Press.
"Hey there, Ryan. Keeping an eye on little brother?"
My eyes never stopped tracking my target, but it was all I could do to keep them from rolling back into my head. Nick, the star running back of the football team, was Will's friend, and we got along, generally. However, his main hobby was busting my balls, and I had more important things to concentrate on tonight. "Just checking out the party. Not sure I want to be in that sea of flesh."
"The easy availability of flesh is the only reason to come to a frat party. Well, that and the free booze." Nick's large hand crossed into my field of vision, and he pointed directly where I was looking. "Ain't Will the popular one tonight? Not that I can blame the ladies. I wouldn't mind getting a piece of that either."
I stared at Nick. "What the fuck? Since when are you into guys?"
"Um, since always." He cocked his head to the side. "Is your gaydar on the fritz or somethin'?"
I shrugged. "It's never really worked all that well."
"You're telling me," he muttered.
"Realize" is available from the Torquere website.
